More than 400 jobs are expected to be created by almost $6.6 million in federal loans announced Tuesday by Minister of State Gary Goodyear.
The money is going to 13 small- and medium-size businesses in Windsor and Essex County, including a number of tool and die companies and mouldmakers to improve technology, develop new markets or expand.
"My responsibility is Southern Ontario which has been particularly hard hit, lots of jobs lost here, so we're creating jobs by stimulating the economy," Goodyear said after a news conference at Liqui-Force Services in Kingsville.
Goodyear is minister of state for the federal economic development agency for Southern Ontario.
Goodyear, who made the announcement with Essex MP Jeff Watson, said the loans will help diversify the local economy.
