Invest Windsor > NewsDowntown Windsor - Construction team chosen for St. Clair media school
December 15, 2009
Two local companies that collaborated to build Windsor Crossing Outlet Mall have been selected to transform the former Salvation Army citadel into St. Clair College's media studies complex.
Local architectural firm Architecttura Inc. and contractor Amico Design Build were selected from more than 15 contenders to begin construction this week. The media complex will house St. Clair College's journalism program and provide students with a state-of-the-art newsroom, classrooms and equipment.
The City of Windsor handed the keys from the former Salvation Army building to St. Clair College after clearing out the "debris" last week.
"We are looking forward to a new home for students and creating a signature building for our city at the corner of Victoria and University Avenue," said St. Clair College president John Strasser.
"Our commitment has been to do what we can, to bring more students, faculty and programs to Windsor's downtown."
