Ontario's transportation ministry is set to begin expropriating more than 500 properties to make way for the $1.6-billion Windsor-Essex Parkway.
Agreements have been reached on more than 350 properties in the Huron Church Road-Talbot Road corridor where the new nine-kilometre below-grade border route will be built. A number of other tentative agreements have been reached, but not yet closed with the owners, ministry officials said Friday.
The ministry has spent close to $118 million so far on land for the parkway.
Remaining property owners are being notified by the ministry of its intention to begin the process under the Expropriations Act....
