Casino cuts 120 jobs, Second major reduction of the year
October 20, 2009
A total of 120 people lost their jobs Monday as Caesars Windsor made its second major layoff announcement this year.
Casino spokeswoman Holly Ward said 131 unionized employees received layoff notices, and 14 non-unionized employees will be terminated starting Monday. With the creation of several part-time jobs, she said, 120 people will ultimately lose their jobs.
"It's certainly a combination of different issues we're dealing with," said Ward. "You've got the troubled economy, combined with passport legislation and the falling U.S. exchange rate. Those have all impacted our bottom line for several months now."
